About Us
The Ophthalmic Trade and Industry Conference, (OPTIC UK) was formed in 1983 by senior executives within the UK ophthalmology industry. It has since then continued to grow into one of the most successful trade associations within UK healthcare. Its membership varies a little from year to year but usually averages at around 50.
The key purpose of Optic UK remains to this day the same as the principles laid out by those founding members forty years ago. Their vision was to act as a trade association in regulatory and business matters, and to represent the whole of the industry.
It is in this way that the uniqueness of Optic UK as a trade association helps our members both large and small have equal opportunity.
Meet the Team
Optic UK is directed and run by an elected council all of whom are permitted by their employer companies to give their time freely to help support our industry. The council is rotated frequently so that new members can participate, influence and sometimes alter our priorities as the market environment changes
